The Story

Based on true events, this dark comedy follows an in-denial alcoholic who gets turned away from treatment for being “too sober.” Willing to do whatever it takes to get him better, his estranged girlfriend must attempt to get him drunk to get him into rehab. This story asks just how far you’ll go to save the one you love, and features a strong take on self-sabotage, compassion, and addiction. With a broad opportunity for impact, “Get You Better” exposes just how hard it is to receive help, even when you ask for it; this message is often overlooked and has a meaningful impact on how we can approach the addiction crisis in the real world. As entertaining as it is empathetic, “Get You Better” promises a resonant cinematic experience that will leave audiences reflecting long after the credits roll.

The Team

The project is helmed by a team of passionate, committed, young professionals: Director Danica Jensen, Executive Producer Baldur Thor, and Cinematographer Logan Floyd. Their combined work has been featured at Sundance, Tribeca, Cannes, BFI, and can be streamed on Hulu, Showtime, Apple+ and Amazon. With a creative team at the top of their game, we are aiming for a large festival release for “Get You Better,” maximizing the reach and impact of the story. 

Our production relies heavily on the generosity of individuals like you who recognize the value of art and storytelling in our society. During this unprecedented Hollywood strike, we are committed to bringing stories to audiences and to fully paying members of our community who find themselves out of work during this difficult time. As such, we have a fundraising goal of $43,000. Your support will help cover essential production expenses, including equipment, location fees, costumes, and post-production costs, ensuring that we can deliver a wholly original film of the highest quality. For every dollar that is donated, our production company will match 50 cents.
